The 2010 Lexington Chess Tournament

Hosted by Sayre Chess
Date: December 11, 2010
International Grandmaster Gregory Kaidanov will lecture at 11:30 a.m.
The Sayre Chess Community is very proud to host the fourth annual Lexington Chess Tournament. More than 240 participants and over 40 schools are represented each year. There are also approximately 50 sponsors who have helped by either providing funds or donating door-prizes. Members of the Sayre Chess community receive many compliments about the tournament and about Sayre's remarkable commitment to scholastic chess.
The tournament committee members have established three goals for this year's event:
- Continue to provide an opportunity for any interested elementary, middle, and high school students to play chess in a competitive environment in beautiful downtown Lexington.
- Raise funds for a variety of other Lexington chess events such as "Chess with a Champion."
- Financially help schools, students and/or non-profit groups so that they are able to participate in Kentucky chess activities. Last year, we donated several chess sets to a local middle school interested in starting a chess club. We also provided free entrance to the tournament for selected students who would have otherwise been unable to attend.
Early registrations are being accepted as well as advertisements for the program/notation booklet.
